Team Party

Saturday the coaches threw a potluck picnic party for all the baseball players and their families (thanx coaches for planning that!) It was alot of fun, the kids just ran around and ate...mostly the homemade oreos (so did most of the adults) and played water games. First we told them we had a suprise for them and made them line up with their backs to us then all the parents started throwing water balloons at them. Then they spent most of the time playing kickball, the bases were little pools of water and Kim, coach cody's sister, just stood around with a hose randomly spraying people. I think the dad's got more into the game than the kids who seemed to just be jumping around the pools.
They had gotten them a cute little baseball cake and Cody got a bunch of baseballs and the coaches and kids each signed them and they all got to take one home. Everyone had alot of fun, even Lexi made a friend (cody's daughter wouldnt' leave her alone). Sad that it's all over, it's been so much fun going to games and getting to know other kids and parents and make new friends...the kind that will still like you even when you turn into phsyco screaming baseball mom:).

She still doesn't like it.

Our dr. suggested that since Lexi didn't like the rice cereal that we should maybe just try babyfood. So of course we always start with the green veggies....no fruit or better tasting veggies til they get a taste for the kinda icky ones. So yesterday we broke open a jar of beans and tried to feed them to her. Peter couldn't get very good pics because we were both laughing so hard! She eagerly took the bite (guess she doesn't remember last time) it took a second for the taste to hit her...she immedietly started gagging, her eyes started watering and she did that thing where one eye kinda squints shut and your whole body shudders! It was sooo funny! The poor baby was miserable and there were mom and dad laughing at her, she probably hates us. better start saving for her therapy too!

Cool Dudes

Hadley got some very worn out rollerblades from a neighbor and was actually pretty good at them. (He must get his coordination from Peter cuz let's face it, I am the most uncoordinated, un-graceful person on the planet!!) He was riding them on the deck the other day and I peeked out to check on them and he was riding around and Devin had taken some of their big plastic toy cars and was trying to rubberband them to his feet so he could skate like Hadley...it was soooo cute! So we went to the store to get everyone rollerblades. We initially went just for Devin but Hadley convinced us his were just too worn out and needed new ones. Devin is in the awkward size still so all they had for him was the cheap kiddy plastic ones (better than cars tho) We bought Hadley the kind that will grow with him for a few years...they are a little big and awkward now but someday when he is a parent he will understand the desire to save money:). So these are some pics of my boys rollerblading on the deck thinking they are cool stuff!

What have I done!?

Just kidding, I don't regret it....yet:). I chopped off my hair yesterday! When I got married and thru the 1st two kids I had super short hair. I tried to grow it out a couple of times but never stuck it out thru the awkward phase. Finally after Devin was born I became absolutley determined to grow it out. I was so sick of short hair that I just wanted to have long hair for once...well, it took almost 5 years (my hair grows agonizingly slow) but I finally had grown it to the top of my shoulderblades. Well, I decided that I was tired of long hair. I was always pulling it up to either cool down or just get it out of my way so it never looked "done" and I was tired of it so I decided to cut it. I made myself wait a couple weeks to see if the urge to cut it would go away so that I didn't do anything rash:) I went to the salon feeling completely prepared, afterall I had been thinking about this for 2 weeks, but the second I walked in there I got so nervous I thought I was going to barf! Once she started cutting I was ok though and a whole 30 hours later I still dont' regret it so I guess it all worked out. We measured for locks of love and she had cut off 10 inches...my hair was longer than I even realized....5 years down the drain...okay, I gotta stop writing cuz I am starting to miss my hair!

Our night away

When we put our new windows in the house last year we got a free night stay at the Anniversary Inn and at JohnsonMill B&B. So we dropped the boys at grandma's monday night and headed to Salt Lake to stay at the Anniv.Inn. We couldn't check in until 5 so we headed to Gardener Villiage for the afternoon on the recommendation of some friends. It was a very cute place. Lots of cute crafty unique stores...Peter was bored to tears, but I had a blast. (this is where I found my book) they had a candy store that had some of the old classics you never see anymore. Anyhoo, lots of fun...probably go with a girlfriend next time tho:). So, then we headed to the Anniv. Inn...I have family who all stayed there on wedding nites and I was always jealous...not anymore! I was extremely dissappointed!! For those who don't know it's a hotel with a whole bunch of themed rooms that seem really cool on the website:). K, so I don't want to judge all their locations but the one we stayed at sucked! Some of them were actually built big and fancy specifically with the intent of being an anniversary inn...some are just crammed into old salt lake historical buildings...which is where we stayed. So, if you look at the website the pictures look really cool and give the illusion of being big rooms. The price range is between $200 &$300 a nite so you assume you are getting a big suite of sorts...they even call them suites on their brochure. Well, I love lighthouses so we picked out the lighthouse room, it had a round bed inside a lighthouse and you climbed a flight of stairs to a jet tub that had fake rocks all around it so you felt like you were in a sea cave and the shower was a waterfall that came out of the rocks above your head...the tub/shower was the coolest thing about the room. Anyway, so we get to the Inn...after driving by it 3 times not sure that we had the right place (it looked more like a hotel that would charge by the hour). Then we walked into our "suite" and it looked like someone had stuck a lighthouse in a motel 6! it was a tiny room that seriously just looked like a cheesed up cheap hotel!! I can't believe that people actually pay $200 a nite for this place! There was a fishtank above the bed, which is a cool idea except that there was only one fish in it and it was dead...no I am not kidding! So overall, the whole day/nite getting away with Peter (and lexi) was a blast...4 stars...the anniversary inn...1/2 star.

Fun with Fire.

We decided to have a little family bonding time... minus dad who had to work late...and start a fire in the back yard. The boys roasted hotdogs and smores and overall we had a blast...went to bed smelling like we had been camping for a week but it was fun. In fact, next week when peter has like 8 days off we are going to smooth out that corner of our yard and get some paver's and make a real fire-pit so we can do it more often.

looky what I found!

I LOVED this book as a kid. One of my favorites. And while I have tried to hang onto most of the memorable books from my childhood this one never seemed to make it. I haven't seen this book in probably 20 years so when I saw it I had to have it!!

And the Astro's WIN!!!!

Oh, my gosh...we WON!!! I still just can't even believe it. Our little team, that couldn't win a game if their life depended on it in the regular season just won the title for their whole division! We went into the playoff's with not high expectations, then we lost the first game and thought, yup, it's over...then continued on winning every game and taking the whole thing. We had to play the undefeated yankees at the end. we beat them 8-5 the first game, but because it was double elimination we had to beat them again and we did 16-9 tonite. it was so fun, the kids were jumping on each other and running around screaming...so were the parent's:). I am sure the other team thought we were going quite overboard with the celebrating (they were SORE losers!!) but it was just such an awesome ending to a fun season. I think I am going to go even more gray than I already am (yes I am getting alot of gray hair...at the age of 28) this has been such a stressfull week, 8 games in 6 days...very nerve-racking! but very worth it in the end...Hadley is just so excited and we are so proud of him...of the whole team ,they have improved so much and have become really good players....GO ASTRO'S!!

hanging out with mom

The other day the boys were both playing at the neighbors house and so I decided to put off the cleaning and enjoy just being with lexi for a bit...we sat on the couch to have a heart to heart. you know, some mommy daughter bonding time. well, she is channeling her inner teenager already and wanted nothing to do with me. she was looking at the couch, trying to lean onto the floor...until she saw the shiny camera...then she wanted me:) I love you lexi!

Laker Fans in Mourning

Stupid, Stupid, Stupid, Stupid Lakers!!!!! This sign has been above our front door for 7 years...for the first time ever it's coming down...for a while:). They didn't even try, it was like they didn't care about winning at all. Worst thing is...we live in Jazz territory:( we are gonna get picked on soooo bad!!

I can't handle the stress!!

Ok, so Hadley started baseball playoff's this week and I am becoming the phsycho baseball mom!! We were not the greatest team and so we went into just hoping to maybe win A game!?!?! well, here we are a week later and our little Astro's have won their way to the final game tomorrow!! The worst they can do is 2nd place overall in the entire league!! YAY ASTRO"S! But let me tell you, this week has been h**ll on my nerves! every time they win and the more we realize they might do it...the more we want them to do it and I am so excited and proud of our little underdog team. But I just am not sure I can handle the stress any longer. and peter says "now you know how I feel with my sports teams" I don't think so peter...Kobe...Hadley...very different!

Player of the game!!

Hadley started the playoff's for baseball this week. His first game was yesterday but unfortunately we lost...but it's double elimination so we get another shot! Hadley won the free drink pass for being mvp of the game. He caught several outs playing 2nd base and he caught a pop fly square in the mouth but hung onto it for the out..cried like a baby afterwards:) and has a couple of loose teeth now:) but he did awesome!! His coach has submitted his name for the allstar team so maybe he will get to keep playing thru the summer. Good job Hadley...we are so proud of you!

Lexi's 6month Pictures

We took Lexi in for her 6 month pictures. They turned out soooo cute. I hate that they insist on taking so many poses cuz I can't decide which ones to hang where...I just want to wallpaper my house with them!

Itty Bitty T-ball

Poor devin is so sick of watching hadley do sports but he just isn't quite old enough for any of the programs around here. Our rec center is doing a "itty bitty t-ball" camp for 3 weeks so we signed him up. this is him on the first day. he feels so important! it's very cute.

My husband the teenager

My darling hubby got the numbers in his age mixed up the other day. for a moment he thought he was 13 instead of 31! He attempted to ride hadley's skateboard down the driveway, he made it about two feet before crashing. this is a picture of his elbow, his hip and down his leg also looked like this (but we couldn't get a modest pic of it) and his ribs hurt for several days after....silly boy!

Poor Lexi

As good of big brother's as they are the boys think it is great fun to put things on their sisters head. she is a good sport about it...but you boy's better watch out...before you know it she will be able to bite and tattle!:)

Having fun on the scooter

We bought this electric scooter off of ebay almost 7 years ago. it has sat in our garage for the last 5 years untouched and forgotten. Hadley recently started asking about it and we let him ride it. We all took turns and had fun. Hadley rides it every day now! It's a little too big for devin but he has fun riding with hadley.

Swimming

Our rec center opened the outside part of the pool about a month ago...even tho it's been below 50 at least 5 days of the week lately. We never seem to make it over there when it's warm and the other day the kids just begged and begged to go. I told them it was too cold but they insisted it wasn't so we went. It actually wouldn't have been too bad if it wasn't for the wind. Devin sat huddled under towells and refused to get in the water (peter got him for a minute but he wasn't happy) and hadley just played and had a blast...said it was fine if you kept most of your body under water:) Peter decided to put on his wetsuit and practice swimming in it for his upcoming triathalon and lexi just played with the goggles.

Flowers

Since I mentioned flower delivery in the last post I guess I should explain myself. Our neighbors own a flower shop and a couple years ago I started helping them with deliveries. They go out twice a day, 11am and 3pm. I would do the 11am ones. Sometimes there is 1 sometimes there is 6 and sometimes there aren't any. on average I work about 15-20 hours a month (except valentines day and mother's day). It's great cuz I just take the kids with me, it forces me to get out of the house and talk to other adults:) Recently, to try and give lexi a more consistant nap, I switched to the 3pm deliveries. It's a fun job, everyone loves to get flowers. I like having a little something to do but still be able to stay home with the kids. And they are pretty consistent about raising the delivery prices to keep up with gas prices so it's a great job.

Oh the pain of being a little sister.

Poor lexi can never get on a very good daytime nap schedule cuz we are constantly waking her up to go deliver flowers, go to the store, go to some activity of her brother's. This was her after being woken from her nap to go to hadley's baseball game.

Daddy is so silly!

We have lexi on a bedtime routine. We do the exact same thing everynite to get her to bed, bath, lotion massage, eat and bed...I 100% credit it with her sleeping 10-12 hours every nite. before we started this it was such a pain to get her down and she wouldn't stay down then we started the bedtime routine and within a week she was sleeping all nite! well, peter's job is to get her undressed while I am filling the tub and bring her to me...well, he thinks it is so funny to put different things on her head when he carries her in, he does it every time. He usually puts her little bloomers from her dress or some item of clothing on her head, sometimes he ties her burp rag around her head...just different things like that. I told him the other day that he was lacking in the creativity department so the next nite he made her a paper hat and was so proud of himself! Lexi, your dad thinks he is sooo funny!!

Hadley's Dance Festival

Hadley's school (along with every other elem. school in the world...or at least utah) does a dance festival the last week of school. The parents all come and sit and watch while each grade does a couple of dances. This year the 1st graders(hadley) danced to O' macdonald...notice the O...it was a rap...so cute! At the end they played the macarana(sp?) and invited everyone out and Hadley drug Devin out and tried to teach him. The bottom two pics are Hadley with his friends, Jacob Moss and Tyler Christensen
