Tagged

I got tagged...it's my first time ever. I feel very cool:). So Erin tagged me and I have to tell 6 wierd things about myself. This will be hard because I don't think that anything I do is wierd...it's normal to me! So, I will have to think of things that others have told me:)

1. When I eat jr. mints, I have to squish them before I can eat them...cannot eat a solid one, don't know why, just can't.

2. I can't drink out of a straw without first biting the top of it flat...drives Peter nuts when we share drinks:)

3. I am addicted to carmex

4. I have several ocd tendencies (who doesn't) One of them is I have to have the tv's in my house on specific volume numbers...and if people change them they get in trouble. The living room has to be on 35. the kitchen has to be on 20 and our bedroom has to be on 8:)

5. Another of my ocd issues, I am always counting things in my head...I can't help it, I can't stop. And I always count by 2's. If we are driving down the road I count mile posts or utility poles. If I am sitting in church I start counting chair legs or the corners of the wood shapes on the walls or picture frames...anything like that...but if I can't count it by 2's I don't do it. I don't know why I do this, this is the first I have ever told of this strange habit. it's kind of annoying and I wish I could stop!

6. I twirl my hair. This isn't really wierd but I am running out of things. I have always done it since I was a kid. I know that I do it but I don't..does that make sense? My family always tryed to get me to stop. they would slap my arm when they caught me doing it, stuff like that. When I went thru my super short hair phase I stopped. I didn't have hair long enough to twirl so I just stopped. The day my hair was long enough to get around my finger I started again...after 3 years of not doing it! I didn't even realize I had started again. I do it all the time. I will be driving down the road or eating or whatever and suddenly realize that my arm is falling asleep and then I realize that it's cuz my arm is up in the air twirling my hair. It's very annoying and childish and I wish I could stop this habit too! I actually had someone at my reunion tell me that was what they remembered about me from h.s....that I twirled my hair in class:)

Anyhoo, that's about all there is...actually I am sure there is a lot more stuff...I am sure half of you are mentally naming things about me right now:) but this was definately enough info!
I now tag Mary, Leigh, Melissa D., Melissa S., Miriam and Sunni.

We're baaack!

Well, we are home. It was a fun but crazy 9 days! This vacation definetely did not go as planned! It was still fun and it's bittersweet to be home. Now we have to settle in and get unpacked. Devin's got appointments with specialists to try and figure out what he is allergic to and we go back to court with our contractor tomorrow. Hopefully we will get settled back into a routine and I can blog about the trip later!

Worst day of my life!

Well, we are in sunny Oceanside,CA. After a rocky start we are having a blast. I just had to get on and blog about what happened.
Saturday we got here, unloaded the car and Peter and Hadley took off to go back to LA for the Dodger's game. Me, Devin and Lexi were left to unpack and do whatever we could do without a car:). We walked down to the pier and ate at Mcdonalds and walked home. When I put Devin to bed he said his tummy hurt, I figured it was just from being in the car for two days eating junkfood. About 30 minutes later I heard him puking. I got him cleaned up and layed him on the couch while I went outside to rinse the sheets. I came back in and he was crying that his armpit hurt?! weird. I told him just to go to sleep. He layed there for a minute before he started hysterically clawing at it and screaming. I took off his shirt and his chest, neck and back were covered with hundreds of hives! I immediately started freaking out cuz I didn't have a car to go to the store and get him benadryl. I started trying to get a hold of Peter but he apparently couldn't hear his phone ringing at the game. Devin started saying that he was really hot so I layed him in front of the door so the cool air could get him better. He looked at me and said, "I have to go to the bathroom" he got up and tried to get to the bathroom but started running into walls and falling down, his words were slurred when he tried to talk and he just had this glazed look in his eyes. I immediately called 911.
The ambulance arrived, the emt picked him up and Devin just flopped around like a rag doll completely unresponsive. They grabbed him and ran out to the ambulance. I had to gather Lexi and her things and then I got in the front of the ambulance and we took off...for the TEN minute ride to the hospital. In the back I could hear them trying to get him to respond and wake up and even I could hear panic in their voices.
By the time we got to the hospital his heart rate was 172 and his oxygen saturation was only 80%...which if you don't know...is really bad!! There were doctors and nurses everywhere. Devin was laying there completely out of it. His skin was bright red except his hands and feet were this sickly grayish/blue color. The nurse started trying to prepare me for the worst. I was literally sitting there watching my son die and I couldn't do anything for him. I had gotten a hold of Peter and he was on his way but it was a 90 minute drive. I was in complete shock, and numb and I just kept thinking that he was going to die and Peter and Hadley weren't going to get to say goodbye.
I have never in my life prayed so hard! Luckily, the Lord decided that we could keep Devin with us and he started improving. We spent most of the night in the hospital but he completely recovered. We went from the nurse telling me he might not make it to him being just fine to go home...didn't even have to stay overnite.
We were there til about 3am. Once we got everyone home and in bed and I had a minute to just sit...I cried til about 4am.
Devin is fine now, running around and playing and being his wild crazy self like it never happened. He doesn't remember any of it. They said that he had an allergic reaction to something and went into anaphlactic shock. We have no idea what caused it. They said it could even be something that he was never allergic to before but now is. they said the only way we will ever know what caused it, is when it happens again to figure out what was the same as this time. We now have to carry epi-pens with us everywhere. It is so scary not knowing what did this, cuz there is no way to avoid something you don't know to avoid!
I am so grateful that he is ok and still with us. I am so blessed. That was by far the worst day of my life (and there are some good contenders;). I get teary eyed whenever I think about it. I don't ever want to feel that again, that helpless feeling as you watch your child fight for their life. Yet, I also don't ever want to forget it. I hope everyone who reads this goes and hugs your kids. Love them, cherish them and enjoy every minute you have with them because they can be gone in an instant!
All is good now and we are having a blast on the beach!

Busy Morning

We have a busy morning ahead of us...yet here I am blogging:) It's been hard to get ready because the kids don't know we are leaving. They know we are going but they think we are going next week. Peter made them a chain to cut every day but he made it a week too long. We are going to pick Hadley up at school today and suprise them. I have found tho, that it is hard to pack for 5 people for a 9 day trip...when you have to hide it:)
I have us mostly packed and the boys will take 5 minutes really. But, to top off our morning. I have had a tooth that has been very sensitive the last week...I just have ignored it...til last night when a chunk of it fell out! Great! I get to go to the dentist this morning instead of pack! I HATE the dentist...for those who don't know, novacaine doesn't work on me....thus I HATE the dentist!
Anyway, I am off to go do that. I know you will all miss us terribly...we will be thinking of all of you while we are gone...actually we wont:) but if it's better for your self esteem to think we are then go ahead:)
And as I leave for this super fun trip I just have one thing to say...thank goodness for DVR!!!:)
ps. did anyone see the season finale of Monk? I have to say it's probably the funniest Monk I have ever seen. I laughed so hard I almost peed!:)

Bath Buddies

Normally, I get the boys to bed and then do Lexi's bath and get her to bed. Last nite we got home late cuz of the ward party and since we had been up the mountains, the boys needed baths. To hurry it up we sent Hadley downstairs to shower and instead of waiting til he was done, we filled a bath for Devin upstairs. Lexi of course thought it was for her and was very upset so we had to put her in with him.

She thought it was so fun and Devin kept squirting her and she would laugh hysterically. It's fun to see her liking Devin more and more. Hadley has always been her favorite, mostly cuz you can't get him away from her. Now that he is in school all day she is really liking Devin. You should see her face when Hadley get's home tho!

Devin's painting

Devin started preschool a couple weeks ago and is having a blast. It is the same preschool that Hadley went to and it's kind of funny to see the projects that come home cuz Hadley did them all too, it's like a trip down memory lane.

It's also fun to see how different they are. There was one project where they got to glue stuff onto a piece of paper, feathers, sequins, buttons etc... when Hadley brought his home you could hardly see the paper cuz he had glued so much stuff to it. Devin brought his home and there were 5 little things glued to it:)

He has brought home some paintings too, and Hadley of course left no white paper showing and it would be tons of color and just crazy and wild. Above it what devin painted. At least it had 2 colors this time:) Peter was proud cuz it was Boise State colors! Go Broncos!

Since I have limited space on my fridge and can't save every art project they ever do, I decided to take pics of them and put them on here so I have them that way.

Hillbilly Hoedown!

Last nite was our annual ward party. We go up to Mutual Dell (in af canyon) and had dinner and skits and all sorts of fun stuff. I am so mad at myself for forgetting my camera! The drive up there was so pretty, all the tree's changing colors. I think I will try to take the kids up there for a picnic when we get back from vacation.
This year the church had installed a zipline down part of the mountain and Hadley thought that was great. He went right down it without any hesitation.
They had a Nibs spitting contest, to see who could spit their Nib the farthest...I took second place for the women! I Rule!!
It was a fun nite, the kids had a blast. Unfortunately Peter had to work and missed it but we still had lots of fun.

Ode to my cookies

pic doesn't do them justice, they are the size of your hand!

These are my cookies. The one's I told you about from my birthday, well the lone 3 that were left by now. I was going to try to come up with a cute little poem about them but I just don't think I could compare to Miriam's ode to her muffin!:) So, I will just show you this picture and let you wish you had cookies like mine!

May the Force be with you!

Peter got roped into a light saber fight the other nite after work. Halfway thru Lexi insisted Daddy hold her and she would just laugh hysterically whenever they would hit them together.

Monkey Munch!

Measuring the chocolate chips while Devin patiently waits for his turn.
Oh, you're watching? fine, here Devin you can have a turn.
Is it cool yet?!
Lexi doing her part.

Me and the boys spent sunday afternoon making monkey munch!(chex muddy buddy's) it was Yummy!

Boys!

I did the kids laundry and when I pulled it out of the washer this is what I had to spend 5 minutes cleaning out of my washer! the picture doesn't do the size of this pile justice. it's huge!

Ho hum

I am bored:) The kids are playing lego's and lexi is sleeping. the laundry is done, as are the dishes and the rest of the house. So I guess I will drag you all into my boredom! yeah, I could go to church but what fun is that?:) just kidding, we are skipping today, which is wierd cuz we never skip but all they are doing is practicing for the primary program and my kids don't have a part in it cuz it's while we are on vacation. I don't think they would be very good sitting around for 2 hours watching all the other kids rehearse..so we skipped.

So, what is going on in my life right now? I got a new camera! I haven't opened it yet...it's actually sitting next to me with the scissors but I got distracted. I think from the way it's packaged, they don't want anyone to open it...even after you buy it! Guess I better get it out and going before FRIDAY!!!:) yay, we are only 5 day's away from vacation!! We are heading out for our somewhat annual beach trip to oceanside, CA. We discovered it back in 2003 when we got drug into this time share presentation and we tried a trip to see if wanted to join(we didn't) but we have tried to go back every year since on our own. We did miss last year cuz we figured 15 days in Hawaii was enough vacation for one year. I am so excited to go back. We just rent a condo on the beach and hang out. we go to seaworld and legoland and just lay around and enjoy the beach. Every year, our condo has gotten closer to the beach:) this year it LITERALLY steps out onto the sand.
I know it will be completely devastating that I won't be blogging for 9 days...but you can get thru it, I know you can!

Let's see, what else have I done this week...oh yeah, gotten completely addicted to these amazing sugar cookies from this company called Smart Cookie. we got them for my birthday and in the one week since then, we have gone thru 2 dozen of them...which isn't good seeing how they are $15/dozen! We went there on the advice of one of Peter's co-workers...I will have to make him pay for my new wardrobe when nothing fits anymore!:) He even sent home money with peter for us to buy him some. They are so yummy, if you all make sure I have your address's maybe you will get some for christmas:)

There was something else I was going to talk about but I got distracted by the cookies, that's all I can think about:) Oh yeah, a friend of mine is doing an online party for Chloe Reese. I hate her for introducing that website to me! I know I will spend way too much money there over the years! You should check it out if you have a little girl(s) there is a link under my faves section on here. (if you get something in the next two weeks, put the name Melissa Sutton in the party code box)

well, I can't really think of anything else. I guess I will go play with my camera til lexi wakes up and I can play with her (I am not allowed to play legos, I don't do it right)

My birthday

ahh, birthday's. Do they even count once your a mom and a wife? Since my birthday was on sunday, and we knew Peter worked we went out friday. He took me to Tucanos...yummy. I think the only time we go there is birthday's. Then he took me shopping for sunglasses. I had decided that I had taken good enough care of my crappy ones for long enough that I deserved nice ones. We were planning on getting Oakley's but the one's I liked were $200 and I just didn't want to spend that much on sunglasses, so we settled on a pair that was only $100...which was more of what I had in mind of spending. (technically, since they are the first birthday present Peter has ever gotten me, I could have spent the $200 and felt justified!) Hadley say's they look the same as my old ones ($10 at walmart) they may look similar but there is a big difference...really...I promise!
It was fun to go out, we usually don't go out for my birthday so it was fun to feel important for a nite. When my actual birthday rolled around I asked the kids if they knew what today was...uhhh sunday? they guessed. I told them it was my birthday and they said oh, and went back to watching cartoons. gotta love the kids!

Ok, I just read my post and realized that Peter sounds like a horrible husband:) so let me explain. Peter's birthday is the end of July, 3 weeks later is our anniversary and then 3 weeks after that is my birthday. We decided our first year of marriage that we would just do one big date for all three...since his birthday is first it usually happens on his day...oh well. Peter is one of those guys who takes you for exactly what you say, so when you say let's not do gifts...he doesn't do gifts...even when you still get him one...he just doesn't think that way. I know he is that way, and if I really wanted something...all I would have to do is say that I want something, but I really don't care. (except for the anniversary flower thing, and I know peter reads this at work...you know what I am talking about mister!)
He is a guy:) but he really is great and I love him!

Then and Now

Hadley holding Lexi her first week home Hadley holding Lexi last week (9.5months old)

I took this picture of Hadley last week (and put it on my computer before my stupid camera died). I remembered that I had one like it when she was little and thought it would be fun to put it side by side to see how much she has grown. All it did was make me sad. I can't believe how big she has gotten, I swear she was that little just yesterday.

Labor Day

Well, I should be able to catch up nice and quick since I don't have pictures to put on here:(. Peter had to work on Labor Day so it was just me and the kids. We decided to go out to eat for breakfast....apparently so did the rest of Utah! We drove to IHOP but the line was out the door, which is ok cuz I am not a huge IHOP fan. so we just went to a local family diner here. I was worried about going out to eat with all 3 kids by myself but they were actually really good...especially considering it took 45 minutes to get our food! We were starving by the time they brought it to us and we proceeded to eat our body weight in pancakes covered with strawberries and whipcream!
After breakfast...it was about noon so we had to come home and give poor Lexi her nap. I had a scout meeting that afternoon so we just hung out at home for most of the day...mind you it was cold and raining all day so the kids were stuck inside. by the time dinner rolled around the boys were ready to kill each other and I wasn't far behind them...so off to chucke cheese! The boys got to run around and play games and peter met us there halfway thru dinner. about halfway thru I realized that it wasn't saturday and we had school the next day so we hurried home.

just my luck

I don't remember if I already vented about our stupid new camera. We got it about 2 months ago and apparently when you get a new camera you have to format the card...I don't know enough about camera's to just do it...the camera is supposed to tell you this the first time you use it. but ours didn't. it let us take 3 weeks worth of pictures before deciding that it needed to be formatted. if you format it with pictures on it, you lose all the pics. So, we took it to Inkley's and paid them $40 and they were able to save our pictures and format the card. So, we have been using it for the last month or so and now our camera has once again decided that our card should be formatted...which it already is! So, I am not paying $40 to save my pics again...the only one I will really be sad to lose is Devin's first day of preschool but hey, it's only been a week...I can make him pose again...nobody will know, right!?
Stupid camera. at least this happened now, instead of next week on our vacation! so I am returning the stupid thing and using our membership rewards check(costco) to upgrade to a nicer camera.
oh, well. guess everyone gets to read picturless posts for a while!

on this day...

On this day in history...the world was forever changed! 29 years ago, in Ravenna Ohio, a little girl was born that would forever make the world a better place. She would grow up to be such a wonderful person that the lives of everyone who knew her would be changed for the better. she is kind, caring, thoughtful, beautiful and well..frickin awesome!
Happy Birthday to the coolest person I know...ME:)!

Swimming

This was them back in may when they begged to go...even though it was 50degrees outside!
Saturday. Look, no more farmer's tans! I hate how easily they tan..not fair! I tanned when I was a kid, now I am just like a 5'11" pasty glue stick!
Devin was done.
You can kinda see Hadley in mid-air jumping of fthe diving board...into the deep end(12ft) he wants me to point out.

I took the boy's swimming on Saturday. It was supposed to be the last really hot day of the year so we went. (it was much warmer that the last time we went) Devin was much more comfortable in the water this time, thanks to the 4 weeks of swimming lessons this summer. He did still get out and sit with me about an hour before Hadley was ready to go. There was only about 40 people there, as opposed to the hundreds that were there last time, so lexi actually wanted to get in this time. We had planned on spending most of the summer at the pool but we got too busy and only made it a couple times...oh, well...next year.

Lexi's Adventures

Figured out how to climb the stairs. only problem is, she gets tired every couple of stairs and tries to sit down.
Wearing her cute new footie jammies, but wouldn't hold still for a picture...
so, Hadley grabbed her and made her hold still..the best he could anyway.
playing under the kitchen table
ooohhh, what's in here mom?
Stop taking my picture or I will close my eyes!
Holy cow! What is this?
Look mom, it's a lid drawer!

Lexi just seems to grow up more everyday...ok, I know that technically she does but you know what I mean!:) She is crawling like a pro now, she is everywhere and into everything. She has been pulling herself up on stuff for a while now but now she is starting to try to walk along things. She is the cutest thing ever, and is such a ham. I don't rememer any of my babies having this much personality so young. She must get it from her awesome mom!
She is very lovey too. She has been saying ma ma for a while now. Peter didn't believe me that she was saying it in reference to me, until he was holding her before bed and she was fussy and as soon as I came around the corner she said ma ma and lunged for me, so ha ha peter. She also loves to give kisses. She started doing it around 4 to 5months old but they are getting less sloppy now:)
We love this girl!
