Poor Deviners!

The day before Thanksgiving, the boys were downstairs playing with my big exercise ball (which I have told them a thousand times not to play with) and I heard a thud and then Devin crying. I hear that quiet often so I didn't do anything;) until I heard Hadley running up the stairs yelling for me and Devin right behind him. Devin had hit his eye on the side of the tv and instantly it was huge...this picture doesn't quite capture the size of it. It was huge and perfectly round, it kinda freaked me out cuz for a split second I thought his eye was bulging out!:)
After about 30 minutes of icing it the swelling went down alot.

Icing it the fun way!

The second day it was still swollen completely shut and starting to turn a pretty purple.

By Friday he could open his eye just a little and the colors were even prettier:)
Today the swelling is pretty much all gone and it's a lovely assortment of purples, blacks, greens and yellows:) I tried to get a picture today but the colors just don't show up well in the picture.

New Tradition

We have started a new tradition at our house, well, we actually started it 3 weeks ago but it's still new:). I am big on tradition, I learned that from my Aunt that raised me. One tradition I have been meaning to start for a long time now is having a weekly pizza and movie night. We decided on friday's since it's not a school night and saturday "is the day we get ready for sunday":)
I wanted to have a night (besides fhe) that was just about us hanging out and having fun. When the kids are teenagers and out hanging out with friends and they are looking for something to do...I want them(and all our friends) to know that if it's a Friday...you can swing by the Olson's for some pizza and a movie!!
This is going to sound totally cheesy...but I want to be the Sunny Delight mom. You know, all those commercials from the late 90's early 00's...where all the kids want to hang out at her house:), I know, I am a dork! But, I want to have the fun house that all our kids friend's (and ours) want to hang out at.
Our first movie night didn't go so well. I decided that day that we were going to start it and the kids wanted to see the new Brenden Fraser "Journey to the Center of the Earth" movie. I went to Red Box (I LOVE redbox) and there was a movie by that title in the new releases so I got it. It ended up being this pg-13 movie with all these gun-toting girls in tank tops with foul mouths! It was the wrong one...who would have thought that there were two movies by that name coming out about the same time. So, we ended up having to pay-per-view it so it cost us 7 buck total instead of 1...oh, well, I guess you learn. The movie was cute by the way, I like Brenden Fraser.
The next movie night Peter was off and the Laker's were on so I had to get a little verbal with him about honoring our new tradition. He saw the light and caved:) We watched Nim's Island, which was also cute.
Tonights' movie...Wall-E.
So, if you ever find yourself in American Fork on a Friday night...come hang out with us!! Just call ahead so we can make sure there is enough pizza...or bring some with you:)
Warning: for the next few years it will most likely be kids movies:)

More about my big girl

Lexi is such a Daddy's girl. She is fine while he is at work but the second he walks in the door he has to hold her. Even if it's during a pillowfight with the boys. She loves her daddy so much...he is in so much trouble when she is older!:)

Being a big helper. She loves to help unload the dishwasher.

She likes to hand us the silverware...it takes FOREVER, but it's so cute that you have to let her do it.

This is when she figured out that she could get out of her highchair.

My friend gave us her girl's old bike and Lexi loves it. The boy's push her all around the culd-e-sac as fast as they can and she loves it!

She loves her brother's so much. She loves to get piggyback rides from Hadley.

Walking outside with her walker toy.

A couple weeks ago Peter stood her up to see if she would stay...and she did. She isn't too steady yet. as soon as she started doing that we got out her walker toy and the night before her birthday she started taking some steps by herself. she is not very good at it:) but she is trying.

Peter put his hands up and told her she was "sooo biiig" and she copied him.

***sigh*** my baby is getting so big. Peter and I were just talking the other day about how much she has grown in the last month. She is trying to walk, she has figured out how to go down the stairs..kinda(she has been going up for a couple months) she is starting to point at things and show us what she wants. She understands what we are saying...if I ask her where her shoes are she will go get her shoe. She knows where things go...she tries to put her pants and socks on by herself, she tries to comb her own hair. She seems to becoming more like a little girl and less like my baby:(. Although I am sad at how fast she has grown up...it is so fun and amazing to watch her discover all these new things everyday. I hate, yet love, to watch her grow up!!!

Party Time!

Happy Birthday Alexia! Don't mind the hokey homemade cake:) It might have turned out better if I had realized that I shouldn't have left 3 layers of cake laying out with an un-supervised Devin running around:) He picked a huge chunk out of the middle layer so it wouldn't go together very well and was really lopsided and barely staying together. (it was a pampered chef checkerboard cake so the layers had to go in a certain order...if you were wondering why I didn't just put the unstable peice on the top)
Why are you all singing?
I'm supposed to do what? (we put her closer to try and blow it out, note her hand, trying to push herself away from it)

She never actually took a bite of the cake..just smooshed it and tried to feed it to grandma's dog.

Hey! I have cake on my tummy!

Look everyone...I have cake on my tummy!

She suddenly realized she had cake all over her and she did not like being dirty! She is such a princess:)

After a quick bath we opened presents. Got this cute dress from Grandma.

Opening mommy and daddy's present

Look what I got mom! She was so excited about this toy. She was bouncing up and down and sqealing with excitement. And she was getting very impatient that it was taking daddy so long to get it out of the box.

Finally dad! The boys got in trouble cuz they were playing with it just as much as her. They actually started fighting over it and ended up shoving Lexi down...mommy wasn't happy with them and neither was Lexi!!

One Year

Daddy and Lexi hangin out.
A co-worker of Peter's was the nurse who takes all the pictures of the babies for the parent's so we got a bunch...free:) This picture was taken about 6 hours after she was born.

Me, huge and miserable, getting ready to go to the hospital. We had to be up in slc by 6am...that's fricken early...especially when you hate mornings as much as I do!!!:)

One year ago today Alexia Kay Olson joined our family. In honor of her 1st birthday I am going to list 365 things I love about her!!
Just kidding:) I wont put you thru that but I easily could. I love this girl so much. She has completed our family so nicely. We all love her to death. I pity anyone who ever picks on her cuz she has two big brothers that are head over heels in love with her!:) It's amazing to watch them with her.
Lexi, you are a joy to this family. We love you and your fun personality...thanx for being a part of our family!!! WE LOVE YOU!!
and I promise you will have a party tomorrow...if you had been born on superbowl sunday we could have done it today:)

Men!

Why is it that months in advance they make sure they ask for Superbowl Sunday off...but it doesn't even occur to them to ask for their daughter's 1st birthday off?!
It's a good thing I love him!!:)

tag

ok, I got tagged again. and since this one isn't just about me writing down stuff you don't want to know:) I will do it. You are supposed to go to your 4th picture file and get your 4th picture and post it and tell about it.
I don't have any pictures on my computer anymore, I saved them all to cd's the other day so I went to my cd box and grabbed the 4th cd down and took the 4th pic from it;)
This is Peter standing on the back deck of the Island Princess. Back in March of 2007, Peter suprised me with a 15 day Hawaii cruise...well, tried to suprise me, I insisted on knowing where we were going so I could pack:)
You are all in for it now...I forgot about these cd's...now you are going to have to suffer thru Hawaii posts one of these days!:)
anyway, I tag Mary, Erin S., Erin H. and Melissa S.

ps. I am feeling much better for those who have asked:) I am just busy trying to catch up on everything that didn't get done while I was sick!

Warning

You are about to see alot of Seaworld pictures...I warned you in my first post of the nite...but it's clear at the bottom of all the pics:)

If you can believe it...even more Seaworld (I warned you)

We bought food to feed the flamigo's...I think you were just supposed to throw it to them but Peter wouldn't listen.
Flamingo's

The kids with all the shark stuff we bought. Hadley is our shark boy. He loves the discovery channel, and when it's shark week...we don't see him for a week. He loves animals, especially sea animals, guess he is my boy:) He insists that someday we will be watching him on the discovery channel!

the boys in front of the shark jaw

Playing in the polor bear caves. The kids looked freaked out cuz there was a speaker in there that played polar bears growling..it really did sound real.

I don't know what these things are. some kind of huge walrus thing. They were huge and pretty much looked like big boogers:)

One of the big boogers retreating to it's cave

Part of the penguin exibit. My favorite cuz the penguin house is like 60 degrees, which is a nice break from the scorching heat outside..kinda like the 'it's a small world' ride at disneyland:) you mostly use it as a break.

Hadley petting the sting rays and bat rays. He insisted we feed them. He thought it was so cool but Peter and I were really creeped out. you hold the fish down low and they go over your hand and suck it off...icky! But Hadley loved them, we had a hard time getting him to leave the exhibit. A far cry from last time we went, he wanted nothing to do with them cuz that was the animal that killed Steve Irwin.

Even more Seaworld

This guy sat, posing like this, on this rock for a really long time. he just wanted us to admire him!Going crazy for the fish buckets. After we had fed them, we were just watching them and they started going crazy. making tons of noise and swimming all over the place. We couldnt figure out what was going on til we realized the workers were putting buckets of fish along the rail so that they could feed them. They were throwing bucket after bucket full of fish out. The sea lions went crazy, it was really cool.

Waiting for us to drop them some fish

Here, let me tilt my head this way for you.

Feeding the sea lions. we bought a couple fish baskets and I guess it was feeding time so they had to get rid of all the fish. so we were about to leave when the lady brought us over like 10 more baskets of fish for us to feed them some more (for free:)

Hadley drinking out of our souvineer cups, which, by the way, are really tall and don't fit in any of my cupboards!

These are shark egg sacks. I don't know if you can see in the picture but you could actually see the tiny shark inside squirming around. it was cool, yet really gross at the same time.

Lexi loved the rooms that had the huge aquariums

Lexi trying to climb into the tide pool

Hadley playing with a starfish. Devin had one to and he turned his upside down...later I came back out and some workers were flipping it back over with a long pole and explaining to the crowd that they will die on their backs...oops:)
