First day of school

First day of Kindergarten
First day of first grade(not sure why he looks constipated)
Today, my big second grader!

Hadley started 2nd grade today. My baby is getting so big! Usually he rides his bike to school but he had all that first day of school stuff to carry so I gave him a ride today and thats when it hit me. At Barratt, the kindergarten and first grade line up on one side of the school and everyone else one the other side. So today I got to drop him off on the "big kid" side of the school. I actually teared up a little. He is getting so big. He is such a helper and I love him to death...most of the time:)
Poor Devin was bored to tears! We dropped Hadley at school then went to the gym (hopefully this will be routine) then went home (on the way home he asked if hadley would be there when we got home), put Lexi down and Devin went outside to play while I made beds and cleaned up breakfast and showered. I looked outside at one point to check on him and he was just sitting on a swing looking so lonely:( I took a picture but stupid me, had no memory card in the camera and I am too lazy to go downstairs and find the cable and hook up the camera to the computer to get the pic on here...you will just have to trust me, it would break your heart!
So, I did workbook stuff with him and let him help me make lunch and do laundry. We managed to survive our first day. This is one of the times I just hate the 3 year age gap between them!

We really do love each other:)

K, so I just realized that today is our anniversary!:) We always seem to forget about it. For those who don't know, I got mono really bad about a week before our wedding and was put in the hospital. To ease the stress on me by not having the wedding and reception the same day, we changed our wedding date at the last minute from the 18th to the 17th (it was easier than changing the reception, less people involved) but, all of our pictures and invitations and everything still say the 18th so we can never remember which day it actually is. I wish I could just say it was Peter that never remembers but I never do either...I still love you babe!
This picture from our Hawaii cruise last year is the most recent picture I have of us together, and of course we are both wearing sunglasses so you can't even tell it's us...oh well!
Happy 9th Anniversary! We have had our ups and downs but I wouldn't change any of it for the world. Here's to many more anniversaries....that we wont remember:)!!

So proud of myself

Can you believe it...I just caught up on 5 posts in one day! (oooh, this one makes 6!) I am almost completely caught up on the last month. I was supposed to catch up the other morning but the lovely road crew did something and our phone and internet were down for 2 days!
So, we are done with everything! We had our first open house today. If you are extremely bored and want to see some pics of our house you can go to www.forsalebyowner.com and put in listing #21804386
I feel in control of my life again! Soccer is done, the house is done...and clean again!:) School starts on Monday. Now we can get back on a routine and life can get back to normal. Peter is back to work:( we got spoiled having him home for 2 weeks straight....thats ok, only 4 more weeks til our annual beach trip!YAY! I need a vacation.
ok, now I have blogged enough for one day...let's see if I can get the checking account balanced before Lexi wakes up:)

more steel day pics

Hadley going on a ride
Hadley going on another ride
Devin didn't want to do rides but was ok with the bouncy house
Watching fireworks from our deck (set off at the close of steel days)
Hadley face painting

Devin face painting

Lexi watching the boys ride the train

ok, if you hadn't noticed...I finally figured out how to get more than 5 pics on a post:) (aren't you proud of me) but apparently there is a limit so I do have to put some in a second post.

Steel Days

Devin found some shade while waiting for Hadley
Getting hooked up to climb the wall
Here we go!
All the way up! guess he didn't inherit my fear of heights!
Going down
Look mom! They gave us popcicles!
Devin sittin in the plane
Hadley in the plane
The boys, right before they yelled at Hadley for touching the propeller (hint: don't bring a plane to the park if you don't want kids to touch it!!!!)
Riding in the train

American Fork has a week long celebration called Steel Days...it's to honor the Steel's (founders of AF) it's usually the week after the 4th of July and they just have lots of fun activities all week long. carnivals and parades and stuff like that.

This year I took the kids to the Picnic in the Park. It's a whole bunch of little booths with games and some rides and stuff like that set up...and it's all free! After several hours melting in the sun and playing games and getting faces painted etc... they put up a big screen and showed a movie. This year was Horton hears a who. The kids thought it was very cool to be watching a movie outside.

Pioneer day

Doug caught a homerun ball!
Us, in all our sweaty glory! (it was HOT)
Poor hot babers!
The boys trying to watch the game
Hanging out with the Bee
Trying to eat icecream and watch fireworks at the same time.

Holy cow, lets see if I can remember clear back to Pioneer Day! For those who don't live in Utah, it's a state holiday where they celebrate the mormon pioneers that settled here. (don't mix church and state....unless we get a day off work for it!!)
Once again, Peter actually had the day off...another first!! Our good friends, the Merrell's, (who unfortunately live clear out in Stansbury Park so we don't see them very often) invited us to go to the Salt Lake Bee's game with them. It's pretty much one of the most crowded games of the year cuz they do fireworks afterwards. It was alot of fun to get together with them and I was worried about how the kids would do sitting on blankets outside for 5 hours but they actually were really good...even Lexi.
It was hot and crowded but lots of fun.

Crackers

The other day I let Lexi crawl around the deck for a bit while I was working in the kitchen... when I went out to check on her I discovered that she had found a stash of crackers the boys had left...she was having a blast!

My baby

This was the first time I ever pulled myself up. Mom and Dad came to get me from my nap and found me like this...they thought I was so cute!
if you look closely you can see my teeth!
Look at me helping daddy!
me, being a ham for the camera
trying to figure out how to get thru this darn gate!

Well, one of the things that happened these last few weeks is that my baby got big:( The week of July 19th Lexi started crawling and pulling herself up on everything...which made these last few weeks ALOT harder! She is very fast now and is just all over the place...knows exactly where the stairs, legos and dogfood are!! She doesn't like to sit, she pulls herself up everywhere and is very good at it...but hasn't mastered the getting back down part and gets really frustrated.

She started quite a bit later than the boys. Hadley was crawling at just under 5 months and Devin was crawling right at 6 months. Lexi took her time and waited til 8 months...but it was nice, made her seem like a little baby for longer:( My theory is that she has spent so much time in carseats and strollers going to big brother's events...she hasn't been home enough to learn sooner!

She still hates baby food...we finally gave up trying to force it on her and she has gone straight to just eating from our plates now.
She also has gotten 2 teeth and is working on a 3rd. She has really started to develop a personality and she is such a ham! She knows exactly how to get people to pay attention to her and she just loves it. She THRIVES on attention!
Oh how I wish I could just freeze her right now! I actually hate her nap time...I feel like it is two hours of her life that I am missing!
Anyway, I will stop gushing now!

Done!...well, almost:)

Well, thanks to the lovely road construction crews that have made their way to our part of town...I am up bright and early:( and thanks to some quick running around and closing of windows...the kids are still asleep:) So, I have a little while to catch up on some blogging...Yay! I only have a list of like 10 things I need to catch up on.
There is a very bright light at the end of the tunnel! I am all done with my soccer stuff! Now I just get to be a parent and juggle Hadley and Devin's practices and games! The house is done enough that we put the for sale sign in the yard this weekend!! all that is left is painting some baseboards and a few things like that and cleaning up the mess we have made these last few weeks! my niece is coming over today to watch the kids all day so that I can get all that stuff done. Yay for nieces!
And just in time for all this to be done...I got called to be the cubscout leader in our ward this last week. I was so looking forward to life getting back to normal but I think that maybe it's time to consider that I have reached the part of life where busy, is normal! Hey, at least school starts in less than a week!!!:)

Doin Nothin!

I am on strike today. I refuse to pick up a paint brush or anything of that nature. I have reached my breaking point with home stuff!!! I am sitting here with my phish food(yummy!) and a Dr. Pepper and I am just going to do NOTHING! Lexi is sleeping and I could be getting so much done, more painting maybe fold the laundry or get a load of dishes done but I don't care! I am going to sit here and catch up on blogs that I haven't had a chance to read forever. And guess what??? I don't feel guilty AT ALL!!!
if you hadn't noticed, we didn't make our deadline of getting the house on the market by the 1st...fingers crossed for this weekend!
Anyway, my phish food is now soft enough so I gotta stop typing!
