I made a mistake last night and I am going to try and help other's prevent it...if they want to:)
I saw the previews for "Land of the Lost" and thought it looked like a cute Will Ferrell dinosaur movie. Thought the kids would love it.
So, we went to it yesterday. It was AWFUL!!! Horrible language, tons of sexual jokes and innuedos. I was completely mortified.
I ended up loading up the kids and walking out after about 20 minutes (we gave it a few minutes to see if it would clean up)
My totally awesome boys were so great. Didn't complain once about leaving. We got out in the hallway and they both said "that was ALOT of bad words mom!" I am so grateful they didn't understand most of the sexual jokes!!
I know I am not the only one who thought it was a family movie, 3/4ths of the theater was young kids. I really hope I wasn't the only one that walked out!
oh yeah, and I totally got my umbrella stolen too! we left it on our seats while we went and got popcorn and came back and it was gone!:( overall, not a good experience!

Feeling Nostalgic.
Random list of things I miss:
The Meadows
Fongs
Kim
Having a normal routine
not being surrounded by boxes
not wearing the boot
soccer
baseball
school
The Cox's
miss annette
Barratt
the jeans I could fit into pre-lexi
heck, the jeans I could fit into pre-KIDS!
those super cute brown shoes that disappeared in the move
our swingset
Smart Cookie
BUT: we wouldn't trade any of it for the fun new neighborhood we have moved to. All the fun young couples that we will eventually get to know:)
all the kids there are to play with
our awesome house we are buiding and so excited for.
Having things to miss is good, it means you have made good memories in your life!

MRI Update.
I talked to my dr. today. The MRI showed that I did indeed tear the tendon:( but, that's better than rupturing it or getting the growths he was worried about. apparently it should heal itself if I am good about wearing the boot and staying off of it.
and as much as I HATE the boot, I will say that even just after a couple days...the pain was noticibly less when I did walk without it.
I have to wear the boot for 4 weeks, then I will go back in to get it checked and start physical therapy.

I'm too sexy for my....shoe???
That's right, you heard me!:)
So, I am stuck in this stupid walking foot cast thingy. I hate it, I loathe it, it really sucks! Those who know me, and know how well I tolerate summer and the heat...or don't tolerate it:) I am sure you can imagine how fun I am going to be to be around for the next 4 to 6 weeks. I am going to plant myself on an a/c vent and not move!
Why the stupid foot thing you ask? well, I will tell you...even if you didn't ask, cuz it's my blog and if I want to channel my inner "old person" and complain about my aches and pains for a minute then by gosh I am going to!!!:)
Last september I started getting this horrible pain in the bottom of my heel. It felt like I was stepping onto a really sharp rock with every step I took. And honestly, that doesn't really cover it...the pain is hard to describe but it's awful! So, I went to the dr., they said I had plantar fascitis, which is when the tendon that runs along the bottom of your foot(and attaches at the bottom of your heel) gets really tight and inflammed. Anyhoo, they told me to get some inserts and wear shoes ALWAYS, and not sandals but supportive tennis shoes. and to ice it and stretch it. They said it would take at least a month or so to get better since you can't really not walk on a foot.
Well, I did all that. for 7 stinkin months. I wore the stupid ugly tennis shoes and it has just gotten worse and worse. A couple months ago, I started feeling stuff "crunching" inside my foot when I walked, then a couple weeks ago it got worse. My arch and up my ankle started swelling and now I have a big lump in my arch.
so I finally went back to the dr. He stuck me in the stupid boot for now and today I got an MRI on my foot. I guess he is worried that I may have actually ruptured the tendon...awesome!
so, hopefully we will get the mri results back soon and we will know which way to go with treatment.
wish me luck, and be glad you don't live by me while I am stuck in the boot!:)

ewwww!
so last night goes down in history, officially, as the grossest night of being a parent that I have had so far...and you mom's out there know there are alot of contenders.
About midnight, Devin shows up in my doorway with his hand over his mouth, looking sick. so I yell at him "GO TO THE TOILET!" (if he had just gone to the toilet by his room he would have made it) well, he starts running for my bathroom, gets to the doorway and vomits about a gallon all over my bathroom floor. Then, he decided to keep running for the toilet and he slips and falls flat on his back in the puddle of vomit. This whole time...still vomiting. I didn't realize how much vomit could come out of such a little boy!
I pick him up and just let him stand in the middle of the bathroom and finish. then he goes to the toilet, and throws up some more on the floor in front of the toilet. Peter, is filling the tub and takes him to get him cleaned up while I am left with the bathroom.
Now, I am not sure that I can actually convey in words, just how much vomit was in my bathroom. (be gratefull I didn't get the camera) It was EVERYWHERE! a HUGE puddle covering about a 4ft radius on the floor, it had splattered up the doors, walls, cupboards, tub and shower. it was so gross. I was gagging the whole time I was cleaning up and I can't believe I actually did it without barfing myself.
It took a whole roll of paper towells and almost a whole canister of clorox wipes to make my bathroom livable again.
He kept dry heaving and such til almost 4am.
it was a long, gross night...not exactly the best part of being a parent!

here we go again with the crazyness!
So we have been really fed up with all the drama and headache that is coming from trying to buy this house we are in. We have been trying to keep our options open and look at other homes, but we really want to stay in the ward we are in so that has limited our options. We finally decided to give up on the idea of HAVING to have a rambler floorplan and start looking at some 2stories. That opened up alot of (cheaper) options for us.
We found a model home that was for sale on a culdesac here that we liked enough to think about buying...it wasn't perfect but it would do:) I went to talk to the sales people about it and it had sold that morning:( but, there are 2 empty lots on the same culdesac so we talked about building. We found a floorplan that we really love and we decided to take a leap of faith and start building. We are super duper excited about this house. We love it..not to mention it's about 50k cheaper than this one!:) and we will get to pick everything ourselves and nobody will have lived in it...it will be OUR house.
Our estimated completion is sometime in November. We aren't 100% certain how our housing situation will work out for the next 6 months but...oh well, what fun would that be if we did know?!:)
I just spent 2 hours today picking out all of our structural upgrades and stucco/stone/shutter colors..it was very overwhelming but very exciting. We get to go to the design center next week on Peter's weekend off and pick all the inside stuff, carpet, paint, doors, kitchen cabinets, flooring...even where we want the outlets and stuff! I think that is going to be a long day!
So, wish us luck on this crazy endeavor we are taking on. hopefully we can find somewhere to live and not end up in a hotel for 6 months!:)
I do have to say though, November is a good month to look forward to...Lexi will turn two, our house will be done and New Moon comes out!!:)

Our crazy daughter.
Our little L00L00, as she is now called, by me. It started as Lexi Loo. Peter calls her Loo, I call her LooLoo.
anyway, she has become the funniest, most independent kid lately. She started going to nursery two weeks ago (sniff sniff, my baby:( )
She is still just the most easy going kid we have ever had. she has a huge personality and is such a ham. in fact, I just discovered last night while trying to take a bead out of her mouth, she has gotten two molars...we had no clue cuz apparently they didn't bother her at all.
she says mom, dad, her version of hadley and devin, dog, fish, shoe, toes, no, ME, tree, bird and pretty much any word we tell her, she can get the first sound of it out.
She has discovered Barney in the last week:)
She is a little daredevil. she goes to the playground...the big public park ones and will climb to the tallest slides and go down them over and over, even the huge tube, curly one that is as tall as 2 of me. Peter is excited, he thinks he will have a good rollercoaster buddy in a few years.
She has discovered that in this new house she can open all the doors (we have handles instead of knobs) and she is constantly getting into EVERYTHING!
For a little person who makes alot of messes, she hates messes. anytime anything spills or whatever she stands by it and points and yells until I clean it up...good thing she is so cute:)
She is also obsessed with shoes and feet. She loves shoes, any kind, anyones! she was poking at some little girl's shoes at the park the other day and the girl was not happy. We bought her some sandals the other day and she can't walk in them because she can see her toes. she walks 2 steps then stops to touch her toes and tell us that she can see her toes, the two more steps and the process is repeated over and over and over...I finally just took the shoes off her!
In the last two weeks she has decided that she can FEED HERSELF!!! and she gets mad if you don't let her!! her aversion to messes includes when she feeds herself. she wants to do it herself but she freaks out with every bit of food that falls on her or the table!

Licking the spatula.

More adventures in her feeding herself.

This is one of my favorites. The other day I asked Hadley to shut off the tv and he went up to it and pushed the power button with his foot and walked off. A minute later I look over and Lexi is trying so hard to push the buttons with her feet...it was soooo cute!
we bought these felt pads to go under our kitchen chairs. Lexi got a hold of a sheet of them the other day and took off with them. I found her a few minutes later and she had peeled them off the sheet and put them all over herself like stickers....again...soooo cute!:)

The other day, Devin slept in so I brought Hadley's clothes out to the livingroom so he could get dressed for school without waking up Devin. Lexi got a hold of his underwear and layed on the floor with her feet in the air trying to get them on for a good 10 minutes. she finally got them on and she thought she was so cool and walked around in them all morning.

even more catching up.
More random pics from the last two months.
Devin before his preschool graduation...I told him to wear something nicer, so what did he put on? a baseball shirt and shorts....he is soooo Peter's child!

awww, so cute!
Getting ready to sing a song about the alphabet.

Getting his diploma.
With his diploma. He had a lot of fun in this preschool and made some good friends. it made us really homesick for his old school though. after the graduation he even said to me that he wished he could have graduated with miss annette(his old teacher)
Hadley dressing up his sister.
Our neighbors across the street gave lexi this bike after she rode it at their house and didn't want to give it up:) (they have twins, so they had 2)

Devin enjoying Hadley's baseball game with a snowcone.

My handsome Cardinal.

Getting ready to hit.
All the Cardinals.
baseball has been interesting this year. the program is different out here than in AF. Hadley is on a kid pitch team, he would have done machine pitch one more year in AF. He is also grouped together on a team where the ages range from 8-10. So, he went from being one of the older kids and better players on his AF team, to the youngest and most unexperienced player out here. He is really intimidated by the kid's pitching (or trying to pitch I should say) His confidence level has taken a big hit being on a team with all these older kids. he has asked several times to quit...I have come close cuz these kid pitch games are soooo boring to watch cuz they just aren't good yet, but I am trying to teach him he can't quit, he has to stick it out...and we will probably make him do it again next year, he will be older and hopefully it will go better, if not...then I guess he can choose soccer(which he has suprisingly gotten really good at this year)

one nice thing about the games out here...they are always at 7pm...it's starting to get cool and it's so nice. ugghh, not fond memories of those 5pm June games in AF!
